Suggestions and other info

  • Be creative. Your car could look like a tube of toothpaste, a food item, a Pokemon character, an insect, whatever you can think up.

  • You can get some ideas for your car here: 80 cool PW derby cars

  • Start now - these cars take quite a bit of work

  • About the last thing to go on your car should be the axle bracket & wheels.

  •  Use a bandsaw to cut out the general shape of your car. Then use belt sander, scroll saw, file, Dremel tool, and sandpaper. BE SAFE.

  • Use glue on the axle bracket in addition to the thumb tacks

  • Add metal, like fishing weights, to get the weight up to maximum. Check your weight as you build using a good kitchen scale.

  • Clean up the axle holders and you may need to drill out the holes for the axle.
